SPRING IS HERE CHALLENGE AT DI'S DIGI DESIGNS!

Happy Saturday to everyone!   More soccer this weekend and temperatures today only expected to be in the 30s, so going to be a chilly one:(  Hope everyone is doing great and had a fabulous week.  My kids are off school for the next 9 days, which I am excited about b/c it means not having to drive them all to and from school daily, but also a little nervous that they will spend much of their time off fighting with one another.  Hopefully the latter will not happen!

We have a NEW CHALLENGE for you over at DI’S DIGI DESIGNS and it is SPRING IS HERE!  I don't know about you, but I cannot wait for the arrival of spring type weather!  You have until 11:55pm EST on Friday, April 10 to come join the fun. Remember, you don’t need to use an image from DI'S DIGI STAMPS to play along, but if you do, you have a chance to win 2 images from DI'S DIGI STAMPS in addition to a chance at the sponsor prize.

I hope you will check out DI'S DIGI STAMPS as Di has so many wonderful images, many that would be perfect for our challenge.   You can also check out her CandiBean rubber stamps line - Set 6 has been shown on Create and Craft UK and can be purchased there as well as other online retailers.

Today my creation uses one of the newest adorable images from DI’S DIGI STAMPS "Bunny Greeting."   I had so much fun coloring this image with my Copics.  I'm really pleased with how it turned out.  Image it cut with Cheery Lynn Designs die and I added Prima flowers and a sentiment from Scrappy Moms cut with Nestie.  DP is from Doodlebug Designs.  Sure hope you like it and will come play along!!

Layering Tutorial with Inky Impressions

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a wonderful day.  Today I am sharing a tutorial on layering over at INKY IMPRESSIONS INSPIRATION BLOG.  I hope you will go check it out.

Do you ever get JPG images and want to layer them, but have trouble getting them to look right?  Well, I have an easy and FREE way to help you get those clear, layered images you've always wanted.

Today I am working with 2 images from INKY IMPRESSIONS STAMPS New March Release.  The first one is Carrot Patch Background and the other is Bunny Ears LiLi.

Your first step is to convert those JPGs to transparent PNG files (you can also convert to GIF files).  You can do this in 2 easy steps using Free Online Image Editor.  Open the program and go to where it says Choose File and then follow the steps to find your image and press "Upload"

Once you have uploaded your image, you will be looking at the screen below, click on the Wizards tab at the top and then click on "Transparency" (I have it highlighted with my cursor on it,

After that, click on the part of the screen where your image is and voila, the background is transparent while the rest of the image (or at least solid parts) should remain white - this makes layering much easier.  Make sure to save your image (upper left of the choices bar) before opening another one.

After you have completed your uploads of all the images you want to layer, you can use GIMP - another FREE program - you will need to download this one.

So first you want to make a place to put your new image.    Change the image size to inches and put in 12.000 in both width and height.  Click on advanced options and choose Transparency in the "Fill With" line.

Next, find the image that will be the bottom layer of your combined image and open it.   Then you will copy it and past into the transparent box.

Now it's time to resize and then move to where you want this image on the page.

Once you have the image in place, go to Layer and click on Anchor Layer.

Within the Layer tab, you will next find New Layer and click on that.

You will now repeat the process of Opening the file you wish to add, copying and pasting, then resizing and move it to where you want it on the image underneath.

Once everything is in place, you will choose Export from the File menu and then choose the name you wish to save it under and the folder you want to find it in and click save.

And VOILA!  There is your nicely layered image:)

(Please note that mine is double watermarked so as not to be copied.  You will obviously be able to save a clean image.)

Hope you have found this helpful.  Hugs!!

Happy Saturday to everyone!   First soccer tournament of the season, temperatures only expected in the 50s and it's supposed to rain all day, but this is my older son's last season of select soccer - next year he moves to high school and club soccer - so I intend to go to as many games as possible.

We have a NEW CHALLENGE for you over at DI’S DIGI DESIGNS and it is LOTS OF GREEN!  You have until 11:55pm EST on Friday, March 27 to come join the fun. HIPPIE LOVE WITH KARLEIGH SUE DIGIS!

Hello everyone and Happy Monday!  Today is my first post on the Karleigh Sue Inspiration blog and I'm so excited to be part of the New Release and Inspiration DT!!

Naturally, when I saw Hippie Love image in Karleigh Sue Etsy Shoppe, I knew I had to create with her!    I am very systematic about how I color my images.  I start with the hair and then I do the skin.  For her hair, I used Copic colors Y21, Y26 and E33.  Next I do the skin, and my standard skin combo, which I used here is E000, E00, E21, E11 and E04 with R21 added for cheeks.

Next in my "process" is that I pick out my papers.  For this card I chose DP from Bo Bunny.  I typically color my image to match my chosen papers, so that is why I choose them prior to finishing the coloring of my image.  I colored the skirt with E40, E41, E42, E43 and E44 and the waist band in E47 and E49.  Shoes were done with E43, E44, E47 and E49.  Ground drawn in using E31 and E33.  I pretty much always try to ground my images so they don't look like they are floating in space.  Obviously there are exceptions to this, such as if the image is to be floating in water or in the sky, etc.

Next it is time to bring in color and I like lots of fun, bright color most of the time and since I chose DP with fun, bright colors, I used them on my image as well.    Flower is done with E57 and E59 in center and petals are YR21, YR24 and E33.  Greens (hair feathers, purse, jewelry) used are G99, YG67, YG, 17, YG13 and YG11.  Pinks (head scarf and jewelry) RV09, RV17, RV19 and RV69.  Oranges (shirt and on purse stripe) YR02, YR04, YR07, YR09, YR18 and E19.  I also added some touches of Sakura glaze and Atyou Spica pens on some of her jewelry to bring a little sparkle.

For my die cuts, I chose some of my newest Nesties for the 3 layered flower piece and the sentiment.  I added some Doodlebug bling to this as well for some more color and sparkle.  Bling at bottom is Your Next Stamp.  Image is cut with new Couture Creations dies.

I sure hope you like how this came out and hopefully it has provided some inspiration for you:)  Remember to check out New Karleigh Sue Digi ShoppeKarleigh Sue Facebook Fan Group and Karleigh Sue Challenge blog.  Have a great day!!

Hugs:)
